The Lake Charlors is the largest of a group of freshwater lakes in North Carolina.
The lake has a history stretching back to 1834, when it was called “The Big Apple.”

The water is called the Charles and the river the Charles.

The rivers name comes from the name of Charles, a legendary slave who was held captive by the British.
The name is a variation of the word “Charles.”

The town of Charlemont, Wyoming is named after Charles the First, who led the first American army to North Carolina and later led the Cherokee nation to the West.

The River Charlords name was chosen after Charles first proposed naming it for his father, Charles of Charlotte, after the French explorer who discovered the region.
The first name was eventually adopted by the Charleston City Council.

The city of Charleston is named for Charles the Second, the commander of the American army who led an expedition to North Carolinas home in 1754.
The James River was the second name chosen by the City Council for the Charleys name.
