An underwater lake in Florida will receive $30 million in federal funds under a program that was first proposed in April.
Lake victoria in Florida, known as “the lake of death,” is a lake that’s the size of New York City.
The lake, located in Lake Victoria, Florida, sits about 2 miles off the shore.
In September 2016, President Donald Trump declared the lake a disaster area.
Since then, Florida has received $1.9 billion in federal disaster relief funds for flood-affected areas.
The federal flood-relief fund was established in the 1970s to help states and localities in the aftermath of natural disasters.
The $30-million allocation will be distributed to Florida in a way that’s consistent with federal guidelines.
The program was first announced by President Donald J. Trump on April 30.
The money will go toward flood control improvements, recreation programs and rehabilitation of water infrastructure.
The money will also support public works projects that will improve access to water, including a $2 million project in South Florida.
